Uphold Tenets of Ramadan, Abiodun Urges Muslims

As Muslims all over the world celebrate the end of the holy month of Ramadan, Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, has congratulated them for witnessing the end of fasting and urged them to uphold lessons and tenets which Ramadan symbolizes.

This was contained in a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Kunle Somorin, a copy of which was made available to our correspondent on Wednesday.

He also urged them to reflect on the current happenings in the nation and continue to pray for peace and security to return to Nigeria.

The governor noted that Muslims had engaged in the spiritual exercise as directed by Allah for the past one month, calling on the faithful not to do away with love, prayers, unity and harmony that formed the basis of the holy month.

He further urged them to continue to offer prayers for peace and unity in the country, particularly in the face of security and economic challenges.

Abiodun, who said Eid-el-Fitri, is a period of celebration for the Muslims who have abstained from eating, drinking and other pleasures during the day, throughout Ramadan as commanded by Allah, appealed to them to engage in moderate celebration.

Governor Abiodun added that the present situation in the country called for sober reflection, stressing that “as you celebrate the end of Ramadan, I urge you to reflect on our situation as a nation and continue to pray for peace and security to return to Nigeria.”

He, however, urged the Muslims to observe COVID-19 safety protocols and guidelines as they make merry, declaring that the pandemic is far from over.
