The Department of Petroleum Resources(DPR) has sealed the mega station of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation(NNPC) and two others in Yenagoa the Bayelsa state capital, over what they described as the under-dispensing of products allocated to the station.

The operation which was led by the DPR field operations officer in conjunction with security operatives from the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), led to the discovery of abandoned petrol stations.

Speaking on the operation after dispensing products to motorists at the official pump price of N145 per liter before sealing the stations, the head of public affairs spoke on the violation.

He lamented the alleged sharp practices by abandoned petrol stations as motorists call for intensified efforts, while the sealed station manager described the under-dispensing as a technical problem.

Meanwhile, the shut filling stations according to the DPR head of operations Mr. Ejoifor Ofundu will remain closed until they meet the basic requirements for their re-opening, while legal actions will be taken against the abandoned ones.
