It all kicks off on Thursday, June 11, at one of football’s most iconic arenas: Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.

Mexico will make history as the first country ever to host World Cup matches across three tournaments - 1970, 1986, and now 2026.

In a twist of fate, Mexico vs South Africa opens the World Cup, just like it did in 2010. But this time, it’s the start of a brand-new era - the first 48-team tournament.

The Azteca crowd will turn the stadium green, loud, and electric, setting the tone for the 103 matches still to come.

 

The Transcontinental Football Fiesta, A World Cup Like No Other


This isn’t just another tournament. For the first time ever, the World Cup stretches across three countries, three time zones, and wildly different landscapes.

Teams and fans will be on the move from start to finish.

 

Gathering Of Football Stars

 

It is another fiesta of the gathering of football stars across the world, both the old and new generation stars. from Cristiano Ronaldo, to Lionel Messi, Kyrian Mbappe, Mohammed Salah Bruni Fernandez, to Hakimi, Dembele Bukayo Saka, Michael Olise, Lamine Yamal, including Halland. Virtually all continents of world from Europe to America, Africa to Asia, have stars to present at the 2026 World Cup.

 

The Host Nations:


The United States carries most of the load with 11 host cities.

Canada brings North American energy with Toronto and Vancouver.

Mexico adds decades of football history through Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey.

Opening Weekend Action:


After Mexico opens the show on Thursday, Canada takes the stage Friday, June 12 with Bosnia and Herzegovina in Toronto.

Hours later, the United States kicks off its home campaign under the LA lights against Paraguay.

 

The Grand Finale:

 

39 days later, it all ends on July 19 on the East Coast. The new world champions will be crowned at MetLife Stadium, New York New Jersey.
