Police Arraign 17 More Suspects Over Maraban Jos Mob Killing

The Kaduna State Police Command has taken another step in the Maraban Jos mob killing case that occurred on 25th Jun, arraign 17 more suspects before a competent court in connection with the murder of a woman that sparked outrage across the community.

The new court appearances came after police concluded the first phase of preliminary investigations. Detectives said evidence gathered so far, including witness accounts and forensic findings, helped them establish links between more individuals and the incident.

Beyond the 17 arraigned, the Command charged 33 other suspects with criminal conspiracy and unlawful assembly. Police said the charges reflect varying levels of involvement, from those who allegedly carried out the attack to those accused of inciting or enabling it.

In the same update, the Command in a statement by Police Public Relations Officer, Mansur Hassan, confirmed that 30 people arrested earlier have been cleared. After a review of the evidence, investigators found no link between them and the crime. They were released unconditionally to avoid further harm to innocent residents.

Investigations are still ongoing, according to the Command.

CP Muhammad Rabiu said tactical teams are intensifying efforts to track down every person who participated in, or aided, the killing. He said every person found culpable will be brought to justice.

The Commissioner of Police also urged Kaduna residents to remain calm and law-abiding, while the case progresses. He called on the public to keep sharing credible information with officers, stressing that community cooperation is key to securing justice for the victim and keeping peace across the state.
