Xenophobia: Hoodlums raze MTN office in Ibadan

Xenophobia: Hoodlums raze MTN office in Ibadan

Suspected hoodlums in Ibadan late on Tuesday razed the MTN office located around Bodija, Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.


The action, it was learnt followed the incessant attack on some Nigerians and their businesses in South Africa. It was gathered that some hoodlums also stormed the Shoprite mall in Ibadan but were prevented from entering the premises by the police.

Correspondent Kunle Ojo who visited the scene reports that the entire office was burnt with all the facilities.

Eyewitness account has it that around 10.30pm on yesterday some hoodlums on bike stormed the area, after beatING the security man on ground wet the office with petrol and later set it on fire.

Some Nigerians who spoke at the scene of the incident decried the attack on Nigerians stressing that the act should be condemned by all right-thinking people but urged the people, especially the youth to exercise some restraint stressing that Nigerians should refrain from actions that will further jeopardize the economy.

As at the time of this report, security has been beefed up in the area while regular vehicular movement has been restored but most shop owners in the area are yet to open for the daily activities.
