President Buhari Pledges Action against Bandits’ Threat to National Food Security

President Muhammadu Buhari has pledged that his administration will use all available resources and manpower in dealing with bandits to ensure that they did not create havoc against access to farms and food production in the coming growing season.

Speaking shortly after observing the Eid prayer marking the end of the month-long Ramadan fast, President Buhari emphatically said that the menace of bandits and kidnappers will be addressed to ensure that the nation’s food security is not threatened.

The 2021 Eid prayer was held low key as the president chose to observe the prayers inside the presidential villa.

At exactly 10 o’clock, the president, the first and other members of the family approached the forecourt of the presidential villa to observe the prayer.

Chief Imam of Shiek Abdulwaheed Suleiman who conducted the prayers urged Muslim ummar to imbibe the virtues of Islam and prayed for the unity and security of the country.

President Muhammadu Buhari who hoped for a good rainy season this year said “the law enforcement agencies are working hard to regain confidence against bandits so that Nigeria can go back to the land.

He said such is very important so that the country can get enough food to eat and even for export.

Explaining ongoing efforts to tackle the security situation in the country by the administration, President Buhari drew attention to the series of long meetings held in recent weeks, chaired by him, saying that a part of resolutions had been made public by the National Security Adviser and the others kept secret.

He was optimistic that Nigeria will overcome the security problem with the resources and manpower available.

The President who commended the National Assembly for its support, appealed to the Nigerians and elite alike, to show a better appreciation of the problems facing the country.

National assembly leadership sued for peace and unity among Nigerians as being reflected during Ramadan saying more would be achieved in the country when there is unity and security.

President Buhari and members of his family were joined for the Eid prayer by cabinet members and heads of security and intelligence agencies.
