Makinde Debunks Insinuation of Padding, Signs 2021 Budget

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has debunked the insinuation that the 2021 Budget presented and passed by the state House of Assembly has been inflated by the lawmakers.

The Governor cleared the air on the matter while appending his signature to the 2021 budget passed into law by the State House of Assembly.

Addressing top government functionaries and members of the Oyo state House of Assembly who were at the signing ceremony after signing the document, Makinde said the 2021 budget will accommodate more developmental projects for the state, with the budget performance set at 70 per cent.

Correspondent Kunle Ojo reports that the Governor added that the budget christened “Budget of Continued Consolidation” will increase the state’s ability to respond to economic challenges adding that his administration will do all the needful to achieve the fiscal sustainability of the budget.

He commended the lawmakers for the efforts put into the process to ensure that it was completed on time.

Recall that the governor had ordered the downward review of the N273.7billion budget earlier approved by the House of Assembly to N268.8billion due to the need to achieve a favourable budget performance.

On the second wave of COVID-19, Makinde declared that the decisions of his administration will be driven by data stressing that the people of the state and Nigerians should prepare for any eventuality.

He assured that the year 2021 would see many infrastructural projects started by his administration are completed, adding that his administration would continue to be innovative.
