Fubara Presents N1.85trn 2026 Budget of Resilience to Assembly
Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has presented a N1.854 trillion budget for 2026 to the State House of Assembly. Titled the "Budget of Resilience for Growth and Development," the spending plan prioritizes infrastructure, education and healthcare, while promising prudent management of public funds.
Governor Fubara said the budget is a response to current economic challenges and a roadmap to strengthen the state's finances.
The governor told the House the fiscal estimate was arrived at after extensive public consultations and is aimed at boosting economic resilience and improving residents' welfare.
Fubara also proposed a 50% increase in overhead allocations for Ministries, Departments and Agencies to improve service delivery, and pledged to clear outstanding gratuities and death benefits owed to retired civil servants.
Receiving the appropriation bill, Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule, assured the governor that lawmakers would give the proposal thorough and expeditious consideration.
