Revenue collectors, on Monday morning, beat a female trader to stupor at the Igbor Market in Gwer Local Government Area, Benue State. The woman was beaten mercilessly and stripped naked with several injuries inflicted all over her body.

The trader was beaten by revenue agents in the market for failing to pay for ticket issued her. The agent descended on her during altercation.

The trader was rushed to the hospital by some traders and concerned persons for medical treatment amidst fear of her getting resuscitated and stabilized quickly.

Some traders reported the attack on the woman to the Security Adviser to the Governor on Internal Affairs, Joseph Har, who immediately ordered the arrest of the culprits.

The Special Adviser to Benue State Governor on Security and Internal Affairs, Joseph Har, in a phone call, described the incident as barbaric, saying the culprits have been arrested and will be handed over to the Police for further investigation and prosecution.

The Security Adviser cautioned against violent acts, saying no one has the right to inflict injury on another, if he or she violates the rules as there are legal means of addressing matters of this nature, rather than taking laws into ones hand.
