Makinde, Gani Adams Hold Closed-Door Meeting Charges Framers on Internal Security

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, and Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, on Thursday held a closed-door meeting for about one hour at the Government House, Oke Oyinbo, Agodi, Ibadan, on how to strengthen the security architecture of the pacesetter state and the entire Yorubaland.

The meeting was held barely two days after Adams held a similar meeting with the Ekiti State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), Dr. Kayode Fayemi, in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday.

Correspondent Kunle Ojo reports that Makinde and Adams also met in less than 24 hours after Yoruba leaders converged on the Mapo Hall, Ibadan, for a security and economic summit for the Yorubaland, during which they harped on unity for the region to overcome banditry, kidnapping, terrorism, and other forms of criminality.

Answering the reporter’s question of the recent blockade of food items from the Northern to the Southern part of the country, Adams stated that both Governors Makinde and Fayemi had shared their agenda on agriculture with him during the separate meetings.

According to him, the agricultural agenda for the two states involved efforts and strategies adding that they apply to the issue of agriculture within one to two years, especially on the basis of private initiatives.

He charged farmers and other stakeholders in the region to be proactive and be security conscious at all times even when on their farms.

Iba Gani Adams maintained that his organisation in collaboration with others will continue to initiate actions towards ensuring peaceful coexistence in Yorubaland and Nigeria at large.
