7 Months Pregnant Woman Murdered in Ibadan

A woman with seven months of pregnancy identified as Azeezat Shomuyiwa has been murdered by unknown gunmen in Akinyele area of Oyo state.

The incident which took place at Moniya area of the state capital happened few days after the murder of Barakat Bello, a 100 level student of the Federal College of Agriculture, Moore plantation Ibadan who was raped and murdered by unknown persons.

Barely four days after young Barakat Bello was reportedly killed at Kara area in Akinyele local government area, another terrible incident occurred in Ijefun where a woman with seven months pregnancy, Azeezat Shomuyiwa, was killed by an unidentified person.

The atmosphere at the residence of the deceased in Ijefun, Moniya area of Akinyele local government was gloomy and sad as sympathizers wore mournful looks expressing shock and disbelief at the incident.

To most residents of the community, the incident still seems like a mystery as they are yet to come to terms with the development.

It was gathered that the deceased was a devoted Muslim who was carrying her first pregnancy and was well-loved by people in the community.

The chairman of the landlord association in the area, Alhaji Adeyemi Taiwo, said the late pregnant woman, Azeezat Shomuyiwa was killed inside her room with a big stone.

He explained that the husband of the deceased is working in Kano state adding that immediately the incident happened, the matter was brought to the attention of the Police.

The commissioner of police, Chuks Nwachukwu, and the Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Security, Fatai Owoseni, pledged their commitment to arrest the perpetrator of the dastardly act, saying such individual would be made to face the full wrath of the law.

It was gathered that officers of the state police command had taken custody of the stone used to kill the woman as an exhibit while the Commissioner of Police has ordered investigation into the incident.

Both Nwachukwu and  Fatai Owoseni, as well as the Executive Assistant to Governor Makinde on Security,  Sunday Odukoya, also visited Akinyele town where Barakat Bello was reportedly killed by unknown persons on Monday

The team urged people to be vigilant and report any suspicious or suspected movement to the police for the safety of lives and property.
