Supreme Court dismiss Atiku's appeal

The Supreme Court has dismissed the appeal of PDP Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, challenging the decision of the Election Tribunal declaring incumbent, Muhammadu Buhari winner of the February 23 election.

In a brief judgment delivered by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Mohammed Tanko, the decision to dismiss the appeal is on ground of its lacking merit.

Galaxy's Godfrey Eshiemoghie reports that hearing on the appeal commenced with the appellant insisting that both the main and interlocutory appeals be heard and judgment delivered on all.

But the 7-member Supreme Court panel headed by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Mohammed Tanko, noted that it will be needless to hear all seven appeals, seeing they are all on the same matter, which is the call by the appellant for the court to nullify the election of Buhari.
