Operatives of the Nigerian Navy Ship SOROH Bayelsa state, destroyed over 22,000 liters of substance suspected to be illegally refined diesel in the remote border creeks of Orashi forests in Rivers State, and parts of Ogbia Local Government Area, Bayelsa State.
The disruption of the products on transit, according to the Navy, is as a result of intelligence operation under operation Delta Sentinel, in line with the mandate of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas.
Wooden boats, conveying 36 sacks of suspected illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil otherwise known as diesel were also intercepted along the creeks during the operation, as drone technology was applied to detect the stockpiles concealed under vegetation.
The recovered products and items have been handled in accordance with extant Anti-Crude oil theft procedures, further disrupting the logistics chain supporting illegal Refining activities in the Niger Delta.
