Nigerian Navy Prevent Return Of Illegal Refining Sites in Rivers

The Nigerian Navy Ship code named NNS Pathfinder under the Operation Delta Sentinel, has frustrated renewed attempts by economic saboteurs to re-establish illegal Refining operations in Rivers State.

The operation was carried out through intelligence gathering, which resulted in the discovery of the sites around Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area, Rivers State.

The Navy recovered two illegal refining sites, comprising eight dug out pits and reservoirs containing 15,000 liters of suspected stolen crude oil, and 150,000 liters of suspected illegally refined AGO.

The discovery and burning of equipment, used as well as tools, demonstrated the attempt by criminal elements to reactivate illegal refining infrastructure previously dismantled by security forces within the same area.

The recovered products, according to the Nigerian Navy, were handled in accordance with extant Anti-Crude oil theft procedures, denying economic saboteurs access to resources intended to support their criminal enterprise.

The Nigerian Navy promised to sustain the operational fight through intelligence driven, to protect critical national infrastructure in the Niger Delta region.
