Family Cries Out As Masked Security Operatives Whisk Relation From Residence
The family of Jonah Bonet, popularly known as Pompo, has cried out for help after masked security operatives, identified to be aligned with Operation Fushin Kada, invaded Bonet’s residence in Abuja and whisked him away to unknown destination.
The Bonet Avong family, in a statement on Friday, narrated that operatives of Operation Fushin Kada stormed Bonet’s residence last Monday at about 8:15p.m. and forcefully took him away, in the presence of his wife and children.
The family demanded immediate release of their relation.
The family laments the masked men refused to identify themselves. One operative, the family said, told Bonet’s wife he was being moved to Kaduna that night.
All efforts to locate him have so far failed. The family said they were later told he had been taken to the operatives office, but were denied access to see him or confirm his condition.
The family expressed alarm over his health, stating that Bonet was undergoing medical treatment before the incident and requires prescribed medication. They added that no reason for his detention has been communicated.
They are appealing to security authorities, human rights organizations, and civil society groups to intervene. The family is urging authorities to produce Bonet, disclose the basis for his detention, grant family access, and guarantee his safety.
