Former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, a medical doctor, was at the office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos, in relation to the investigation into the allegation of misappropriation of about ₦1.3 trillion, while in office.

There were insinuations that former Governor Okowa was appealing to EFCC to release his passport for foreign medical trip.

Okowa was arrested by the EFCC in November 2024.

Former Governor Okowa, a medical doctor, was gathered to be negotiating with the Commission that he has urgent need to travel overseas for medical treatment.

Okowa was former governor for eight years in Delta State, his negotiation with the EFCC demonstrated that his achievements in the two tenures did not include development of medical or healthcare facilities in the state.

Meanwhile, EFCC continues investigations into the allegations of misappropriation of about ₦1.3 trillion.

In spite of the investigation, Okowa is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 2027 general elections.
