Police charge Adedayo on two -count charge, gets bail
Following a petition filed by the Ogun state government, the former Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government,Wale Adedayo, has been charged to court on a two- count charge before the Magistrate Court in Isabo, Abeokuta.
 
Adedayo who had  accused the governor, Dapo Abiodun, on stealing the statutory federal funding allotted to the state's 20 LGs also  filed a petition with the EFCC requesting that Abiodun be investigated for the claims.
 
The petition titled "Petition against Wale Adedayo's deliberate circulation of falsehood, false report to government, threat to life and interference with the exercise of executive function," was signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi.
 
 
The Defendant Counsel, Kayode Akinsola filed for bail on behalf of the accused, claiming that the alleged charges are bailable and inspector Olaide Rawlings, the Prosecutor, did not object to the bail application.
 
Magistrate A.K Araba granted him bail in the sum of N2 million with two'responsible and reliable sureties' in the same amount.
 
The sureties, according to Araba, must own landed property that is tax-cleared and must reside within the court's territorial jurisdiction.
 
However, the Magistrate mandated his detention at the Ibara Correctional facility in Abeokuta, pending the fulfilment of the bail requirements.
 
The case was adjourned till October 20, 2023.
