NIN: Applicants Urge FG to Reconsider Stand

The Federal government has been advised to reconsider its stand on the compulsory national identity number registration for all Nigerians.

A cross-section of residents of Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital who spoke with Galaxy News at the New Garage office of the National identification Management Commission in Ibadan lamented the harrowing experience they have been through.

These are applicants for National identity numbers at the New Garage office of the National identification Management Commission in Ibadan with gloomy faces.

The residents who claimed they have been at the registration point said they are being made to suffer unnecessarily adding that the process should have been well arranged considering the second wave of COVID-19 being experienced in the country.

Some applicants also accused officials of the National Identification Management Commission of sharp practices such as requesting for money to power their generator.

Responding to the plights of the Applicants, the  State coordinator of the National identification Management Commission in Ibadan, Olusola Shotayo said the commission had already grouped all the applicants adding that some of them failed to comply with the schedule.

On the allegation of sharp practices by some of his officials, Shotayo said the process is being monitored saying any official found culpable will be punished.

He called for the understanding of all applicants for the proper coordination of the registration process.
