UI medical students protest over N100,000 fee

UI medical students protest over N100,000 fee

Medical students of the University of Ibadan have registered displeasure against the introduction of N100,000 health professional training levy


The students, under the College of Medicine in their laboratory coats,converged at the Alexander Brown Hall (ABH), University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.

Correspondent Kunle Ojo reports that the protesting students locked the gate to the hall of residence and did not allow anyone to go in and out of the premises claiming they cannot afford the new fee.

Some of the students who spoke with our correspondent condemned the introduction of the new fee calling on the federal government to come
to their aid.

Others stated that the increament was an high level of injustice stressing that the management has ordered them out of the hall of residence without the provision another alternative.


Efforts to get comments from the Provost, College of Medicine, did not yield result as he was said to have gone for a programme on
the campus.
