IGP Vows Never to Allow Violent Protest

The Inspector-General of Police Muhammed Adamu has vowed that the Nigerian Police will never again allow a repeat of the violent protest that claimed the lives of officers and men of the force.

The Police Chief made this known during a morale-boosting visit to men and officers of the Anambra State Command.

The IGP, who reiterated the commitment of the force to protect the rights of citizens to peaceful protest, however, said the Police will no longer fold its arms and allow miscreants maim and kill their operatives.

Welcoming the Inspector General to the State, the Commissioner of Police John Abang said the visit by the top cop is timely as it will go a long way in restoring the confidence of officers in the command.

He said a total of nineteen personnel were victims of the protest out of which four lost their lives and fifteen were injured.

The IGP also visited Ebonyi state as part of his tour of police formations across the country.
