Ganduje Defies FG Lockdown, Opens Churches, Mosques in Kano

The Governor of Kano state Abdullahi Ganduje has given a go-ahead for Religious centres activities which includes holding of church services and Jumaat prayers to resume in Kano state. 

The commissioner for information in the state Mohammed Garba reveals this in a statement made available to Galaxy TV in Kano after about thirty Imams held a meeting with Ganduje expressing dissatisfaction on the newly imposed two weeks lockdown in Kano by the federal government. 

The Chairman of the Presidential Task Force, Boss Mustapha had announced on Monday that The Lockdown in Kano would continue for the next two weeks but in reviewed guidelines.

 Ganduje said Kano residents would be free to go about their business on Wednesdays,  Fridays and Sundays between 10 am and 2 pm thereby allowing the holding of Church services and Jumaat prayers. 

The governor, however, said a committee has been set to assist in ensuring social distancing are being maintained the mosques and churches.

The statement added that Eid prayers can hold on Saturday to mark the end of the Ramadan season but prohibits any form of Sallah celebration in the state to curtail the spread of COVID-19. 

Galaxy TV correspondent King Richard, reports that Kano has been under lockdown since April 16 and that the people have been groaning due to closure of their businesses and lack of palliative materials to cushion the effects of the lockdown.
