A late night to early morning fire outbreak have razed over twenty shops and home in the Delta community of Ekpan, in Uvwie local government area of the state.

 

 

The fire which according to community sources started from an electronic shop which sells television and other electronic appliances, spread to homes and other shops where clothing, lightening and wooden accessories were sold.

 

 

Fire fighters from the Warri refinery who came to put out the fire, tried severally without success as the fire continued to increase amid wailing from shop owners.

 

 

Looters also had a field day looting wares from shops whose owners were not at the scene, before community youths intervened and prevented passerbys and journalist's from getting close to the fire scene.

 

The owner of the electronic shops could not hold back tears as they hurriedly left the scene without picking any valuable, as they lamented  stocking their shops with Christmas items before the incident.
