Confusion, Agitation Trail Assembly Primaries in Oyo
Confusion and agitation have continued to trail the conduct of the House of Assembly primary election of the All Progressive Congress in Oyo State across the 33 Local Government Areas of the state.
There seems to be no solution in sight to issues relating to the delegates list and who are the authentic Aspirants of the party for the election. Correspondent Kunle Ojo reports that the exercise scheduled to hold on Thursday was postponed till Friday due to the lingering irregularities.
At Egbeda Local Government Area of the state capital, the situation is the same as members of APC raised concern regarding the delegate's lists and plan by leaders to impose candidates on them.
Security was beefed up while party members rejected the list of candidates brought by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission. Some of the Delegates maintained that there will be no election in the council area unless the authentic delegates' lists are produced. The party leaders declared that the election will not take place until all contending issues are resolved.
They called on leaders of the party in the state and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission to ensure that due process is observed and refrain from actions that could set the party on fire in Oyo State.
