Govt resuscitates task force on polio

As part of efforts of ensuring that Rivers state attains universal coverage in immunization, the government has resuscitated a task force on the polio programme.


The state deputy governor, Ipalibo Harry-Banigo, who represented Governor Nyesom Wike at the flag-off of the first phase of immunization plus in the state, said the idea is to ensure the programme gets to every part of the state.

Harry-Banigo during the program disclosed that the state government is committed to providing affordable and accessible healthcare services to people of Rivers state.

Representative of the world health organization (WHO), Chineye Aghalu explained that it is sad that Nigeria is still among the three countries with cases of polio following relisting of the country after discovery of new case in Borno State.

Other stakeholders commended the state government for its commitment to ensure good health care for children and mothers.
