Healthcare: Oyo Govt Launches Strategic Health Development Plan
Oyo State Government on Thursday launched the State Strategic Health Development Plan and annual operation plan 2021 with a call for support from all stakeholders.
Speaking at the event, the Secretary to the State Government, Olubamiwo Adeosun said in the last one year, the state has instituted a number of policies and initiatives to reform and reinvigorate the health sector.
Correspondent Kunle Ojo reports that the Secretary to the state government added that the state is committed to public-private partnership in delivering essential health services to the entire populace adding that approval has been given for the partnership with private pharmaceutical companies for the supply of drugs to all health facilities in the state.
Also, the Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, Ministry of Health, Dr Abbas Gbolahan, says the State Strategic Health Development Plan is a document geared towards addressing various health challenges and improve health care services in the state.
Other stakeholders at the event including the Commissioner for Health, Dr Bashir Bello said the strategic plan would identify gaps and ensure qualitative healthcare delivery across the state.
Other stakeholders stressed the need for effective implementation of the strategic plan.
Her words: "This is the time for our nation to wake up to the reality that health is too important to be left in the hands of government alone. We must all be involved."
"The Government at all levels, the private sector, corporate Nigeria, individuals and others must join hands together and ensure that there is a significant improvement in the health status of every Nigerian."
"I therefore implore all our partners to support the state in implementing the annual operation plan derived from the Strategic Plan in a coordinated and efficient manner."
In his remarks, the Director,Planning, Research and Statistics, Ministry of Health, Dr Abbas Gbolahan, says the State Strategic Health Development Plan is a document geared towards addressing various health challenges and improve health care services in the state.
Dr Gbolahan noted that the mission is to improve the health status and socio-economic advancement of individuals and families in the state using preventive measures. He stressed that the aim is also to deliver efficient, effective, affordable and accessible health care delivery.
