Troops Overwhelm Lakurawa Terrorists in Kebbi Operation
Troops of Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA carried out a decisive offensive against the Lakurawa Terrorist Group in Kebbi State. The operation targeted the Dogon Daji general area in Dandi Local Government Area as part of ongoing efforts to clear the North-West of terrorism and criminal elements. The soldiers brought superior firepower to bear, overwhelming the terrorists and forcing them to flee their camp.
The engagement was swift and one-sided. Under sustained pressure, the Lakurawa fighters abandoned their positions and withdrew through bush paths. Troops immediately launched an aggressive pursuit along the terrorists’ escape routes to prevent regrouping and recover any equipment left behind.
The follow-up sweep paid off. Soldiers recovered a large cache of arms, explosives, and logistics gear abandoned by the fleeing terrorists. Items seized included Rocket-Propelled Grenade launch tubes, several RPG warheads, multiple Improvised Explosive Devices, 2 motorcycles used for mobility, battery chargers, and various personal belongings.
The Nigerian Army confirmed that troops came out of the operation unscathed, with zero casualties. The successful raid is being hailed as another blow to terrorist networks operating in the region, disrupting their supply lines and denying them freedom of action.
Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, said the success underscores Operation FANSAN YAMMA’s commitment to dismantling bandit and terrorist cells across the North-West. He added that the Joint Task Force remains resolute in sustaining offensive pressure to ensure safety and security for law-abiding citizens.
