Nigerian wrestlers win gold

 Africa’s number one wrestler, Odunayo Adekuoroye, Blessing Oborududu, Aminat Adeniyi, Mercy Genesis, Blessing Onyebuchi and Hannah Reuben have qualified for the Senior African Wrestling Championship billed to hold in Port Harcourt in February, 2018.


Others include Nwoye Ifeoma, Bose Samuel, and African champion, Kemesuode Dressman.

The wrestlers were undefeated in their weight categories and won the gold medals in the Senior Female Wrestling category at the ongoing Governor Nyesom Wike National Wrestling Challenge Cup in Port Harcourt.

Ondo State-born Adekuoroye wasted no time as she defeated Patient Kakada (Bayelsa State) by technical superiority under 20 seconds in the final of the 57kg female weight category, while Oborududu beat Yanyangbini Keketobou (Lagos State) in the 68kg category. Adeniyi also from Ondo State proved too much for her opponents, as she dispatched Esther Ayodele (Police), Faith Temene (Bayelsa) and Essien Akoh (Cross River) in the 62kg category.

In other Female Wrestling final, Blessing Onyebuchi of Delta State defeated Winnie Gofit of Nigeria Army in the 76kg category, while  Kemesuode Dressman (Bayelsa) defeated  Ezeigbo Blessing (Delta State) in the 72kg category. Hannah Reuben of Nigerian Army defeated Ebi Biogos of Bayelsa in the 65kg category, while Mercy Genesis beat Nweke Rosemary from Anambra in the 50kg category.
