Nine Months In Captivity, N40m Payment, Bandits Demand More N300m Ransom on Niger Electoral Commissioner

Bandits after keeping the Permanent Commissioner of the Niger State Independent Electoral Commission, NSIEC, Ahmed Mohammed, in captivity in the past 9 months, are demanding more N300 million, despite the payment of N40 million ransom for the freedom of the victim.

Bandits kidnapped Ahmed Mohammed on Mokwa–Ibbi Road in Borgu Local Government Area, Niger State, on September 29, 2025.

The bandits also kidnapped Mohammed about four weeks to the local government elections in Niger State conducted on November 1, 2025.

The family has gone on public appeal for support to raise the fund for the new ransom demanded by the bandits for the release of Mohammed.
