The Delta State Government has strongly condemned the violence at Effurun which left the personal aide of the Governor, Simon Mudi, with serious head and body injury.

The Delta State Commissioner for Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, in a statement, indicated that the state government was deeply disturbed by videos of the incident circulating on social media and other online platforms.

Aniagwu noted that the reported acts of violence that occurred, particularly, the cruel attack on Simon Mudi were unacceptable.

While maintaining that such unruly behaviour would not be tolerated in the state, he said the government has directed security agencies to identify, arrest and prosecute those responsible for the violence.

The Delta State Police Command PPRO, Edafe Bright, in a statement, indicated that the command has directed the Police Area Command in Effurun to immediately commence an investigation into the attack, with a view to arresting the perpetrators.

Tempo Mudi was said to be attacked by APC members loyal a commissioner. The commissioner is also said to be receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital in Warri as a result of injuries sustained during an attack on him at the same APC meeting in Effurun.
