Reps Frown at Insecurity in the Country Calls on FG to Allow Nigerians Bear Guns

The House of Representatives has advised the federal government to increase its recruitment and training capacity for military men and police to close the gap between available and required manpower, calling for an increase in the presence of security agents in Kaduna State.

The lower chamber gave the advice after deliberation on a motion bordering on national security, raised by Representative Umar Barde at Tuesday plenary.

Barde had drawn the attention of the green chamber to the incessant killing and adoption of citizens particularly students in secondary school in Kaduna State calling for immediate action to end the menace.

The House however prayed for the repose of the souls of all military personnel and other victims who lost their lives in the hands of bloodthirsty gunmen and condoled the bereaved families.

The lawmakers urged security agencies to take necessary measures to ensure the early and safe return of all abductees.

Barde lamented the latest abduction of students urging the Government to allow Nigerians to carry arms in the face of the failure of the government to protect them.

The House during the plenary also passed for 2nd reading, a Bill for an act to provide for state police in Nigeria.

The Bill which comprises of 5 clauses generally alters the provision of the principal act, establishing state police council and state police service commission among others.
