Prof Umar Pate, a Dean Faculty of postgraduates studies at the Bayero University Kano, has charged Adamawa journalists to desist from fake news, hate speech that is capable of destroying the country

Pate disclosed that fake news and hate speech has caused so many choas within and outside the country according to him, we can only succeed as a nation if journalists are well trained and can verify the information before going to the press. 

He advised the leadership of the Nigerian Union of journalists to as matter of urgency caution their members that are making fun of feeding people wrongly  However called on the security personnel, politicians and the rest to work hand in hand with the journalists in order to bring development in the country.

Some of the journalists that participated during the lectures describe it as timely.
