Authorities of the Nigeria Correctional Service have debunked reports of Bomb Explosion in its Correctional Centre in Maiduguri.

The National Public Relations Officer of the Service and the Deputy Controller of Correction, Umar Abubakar, in a statement signed and made available to our Correspondent in Abuja confined that normal activities are ongoing at its correctional centre in the State. Abubakar described the report of the explosion as fake, baseless and unfounded just as he confirmed that there was no incident of Bomb blast at Maiduguri Correctional Centre.

The Image Maker of the Correctional Service added that there has been no report of security breach at any of the Custodial centres across the country. He urged the media to always confirm their report before going to the press saying failure to do so could lead to fear and apprehension among members of the public.

Not only that, the Service enjoined members of the public to remain calm as inmates are continuing their treatment regime of rehabilitation programs without disruption. The Nigeria Correctional Service however restated its commitment to protection of all inmates in all Custodial centres across the country.
