Labour Party Constitutes Committee to Probe Abure

The Labour Party has initiated a disciplinary investigation into its former National Chairman, Julius Abure, as part of broader reforms triggered by a Supreme Court decision affirming his removal from office.
A newly established disciplinary committee, led by Senator Ireti Kingibe, has been mandated to examine serious allegations against Abure, including corruption, forgery, perjury, and criminal conspiracy. The committee has 21 days to present its findings and recommendations to the party’s National Executive Council.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Senator Nenadi Usman, Chair of the National Caretaker Committee, stated that Abure has been given 48 hours to respond to the charges before further action is taken. She described his continued claim to the party's leadership as impersonation and declared all decisions made by him during the disputed period null and void.
The Caretaker Committee also passed a vote of confidence in Peter Obi and Governor Alex Otti, commending their unwavering commitment to party unity. Senator Usman called for unity and adherence to internal democratic processes, affirming that the Labour Party is moving forward with renewed focus and dedication to building a better Nigeria. Members were encouraged to support the new leadership and participate in an upcoming nationwide membership revalidation drive..
