Atiku, Obi, Mark Form Major Political Force Under ADC

Opposition political leaders have come together in Abuja in what could become a major political force ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Their aim is to form a united coalition under the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

The coalition of opposition parties says the merger is a response to Nigeria’s deepening economic crisis, insecurity, widespread poverty, hunger, and rising unemployment.

Prominent political figures present at the Abuja meeting include Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, Senator Aminu Tambuwal, Rotimi Amaechi, Rauf Aregbesola, Nasir El-Rufai, Senator Ireti Kingibe, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, Uche Secondus, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, Emeka Ihedioha, among others.

Outgoing ADC Chairman Ralph Nwosu formally announced Senator David Mark as Interim National Chairman, while Rauf Aregbesola will serve as Interim National Secretary.

In his first remarks as Interim National Chairman, Senator David Mark said the coalition is prepared to present a constructive and credible alternative to tackle insecurity, poverty, and other national challenges. He pledged a focus on inclusion, justice, the rule of law, and performance-based leadership.

In his remarks, The outgoing National Chairman of ADC, Ralph Nwosu described the direction of the coalition as a step toward restoring governance built on integrity. He emphasized inclusion over nepotism, justice over impunity, and competence over empty promises.
