APC Closes Alleged Certificate Forgery Suit against Obaseki

The All Progressives Congress, APC has closed its case of alleged certificate forgery leveled against Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki, a suit being heard at the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.

Galaxy's Godfrey Eshiemoghie reports that the plaintiff's case was concluded Monday with the cross-examination of an expert witness, Raphael Onwuzuligbo, a retired Assistant Superintendent of Police and a forensic document examiner.

In his testimony during cross examination by counsels of Obaseki and the PDP, the witness said he did not smudge the University of Ibadan logo on Godwin Obaseki's certificate to make it appear compromised.

He also insisted that the signature of the Vice Chancellor of the University was missing from the certificate not because the document was poorly scanned but that it was actually missing.

The witness also refused to buy into the arguments of the defendants that vital portions of Obaseki's certificate were missing due to poor scanning of the original document.

Two other witnesses, Engr. Gabriel Iduseri, Caretaker Zonal Youth leader of the APC and Dr. Mikharo Asekome, an alumni of University of Benin and associate professor of the Benson Idahosa University, Benin, were also cross examined, bringing the plaintiff witness to six.

While Engr. Iduseri had stated that it was impossible for one to gain admission into University of Ibadan with three credits and two passes, Dr. Asekome said the university back then in 1974 offered concessional admission which could have management vary the admission requirements a little bit.

Meanwhile, Obaseki is scheduled to commence his defense on Tuesday.
