In line with the ongoing Naval operation tagged 'Operation River Sweep' in the Delta and Bayelsa territorial waters, Rear Admiral Mohammed Garba has said that 42 illegal refineries were destroyed within a week.
the Flag Officer commanding the Central Naval Command made the disclosure in Warri while briefing journalists on the success of the operation which he said led to the arrest of three suspected high profile pipeline vandals.
Speaking further, he spoke on the number of arrest made, and reiterates the commitment of the Navy in making the waterways safe.
Meanwhile, the illegal refineries which covers over 100 hectares of land, also led to the setting ablaze of drums and tanks filled with illegally refined products, while the exercise according to the Navy will be sustained.
