Ekiti 2026: YIAGA Africa Faults Result, Alerts Of Vote Buying, People Voted Without PVCs
Election Monitoring Mission, Yiaga Africa, has faulted the result of the Saturday governorship election in Ekiti State. The Election Monitor Mission interrogated critical flaws, detected widespread vote buying, card reader failures, and people voting without Permanent Voters Cards, which, the mission said, seriously affected the credibility of the Ekiti State governorship election.
Presenting its final report in Ado-Ekiti, Mission Chairman, Dr. Aisha Abdullahi, said that BVAS machines failed to verify voters in 10 per cent of polled units.
She added that illegal voting was recorded in 14 per cent of areas, where individuals without physical Permanent Voter Cards were allowed to vote using printed slips.
The Mission, however, acknowledged early voting and the election's relative peaceful atmosphere on election day.
Yiaga Africa is demanding immediate clarification from INEC to protect the integrity of future elections.
