FG launches the National Policy on Anti-Bullying in Nigerian Schools.

As part of efforts to ensure behavioral Uniformity in Public and Private Schools across Nigeria, the Federal Government on Monday launched the National Policy on Anti-Bullying in Nigerian Schools with the Inauguration of members of the Committee.This and many more were the outcome of the Citizens and Stakeholders Engagement on Nigerian Education Sector presided over by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa.

 

Bullying is a repeated aggressive behavior characterized by a power imbalance and the intent to cause harm. Students who are bullied often feel threatened and powerless.Over the years, there had been reported cases of bullying in both Public and Private Schools in Nigeria with its attendants implications.

 

Worried by the ugly trend, the Federal Government initiated various measures in this regard, an efforts which culminated to the launching of the National Policy and inauguration of Members of the Committee on Monday by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa. The Government maintained that this initiative would ensure sanity in both Public and Private Schools across the Country.

 

Not only that, the Government restated its earlier commitment on the introduction of CBT for the conduct of both WAEC and NECO Examinations in the country. Other Speakers at the event declared their support for the government initiative while they called for more stringent measures towards repositioning the Education Sector. Highpoint of the event was the launching of the Anti-Bullying Policy and the Inauguration of the Committee, comprising stakeholders in the Education Sector.
